Halter is a venture-backed agtech company transforming sustainable grazing practices for farmers and ranchers globally. The company uses innovative technology to enable productive, sustainable operations without traditional infrastructure like fences, quad bikes, or dogs. You'll join Halter's new regional finance and operations hub in Buenos Aires as a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Financial Controller for Argentina & Uruguay. This is an early-stage role in a growing team where you'll own core accounting functions that underpin the organization's financial operations. Key responsibilities include: - Managing accounts payable: supplier onboarding, invoice processing, and payment runs across both Argentine and Uruguayan entities - Completing bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations as part of the monthly close - Ensuring general ledger accuracy through proper journaling, accruals, and coding - Maintaining inventory and fixed asset records for collar stock and equipment held in-country - Preparing tax filing documentation for the Controller and external advisors - Supporting expense and payroll inputs in coordination with the People team and local providers The role offers significant scope beyond typical accounting positions. Processes are being built as you join, and you'll be expected to improve and optimize them rather than simply follow established procedures. You'll gain exposure to work well beyond standard accountant responsibilities and have real ownership early in your tenure. Halter is backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, and others. The company culture emphasizes absolute ownership, hard work, winning mentality, and embracing discomfort as the function scales. The company operates with an office-first approach, believing in-person connections drive growth, learning, and impact. While working from the office is the default, the high-trust culture allows flexibility when needed. REQUIREMENTS: Must-haves: - Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or finance operations - Working knowledge of Argentine accounting, tax, and payment processes - Strong Excel skills and meticulous attention to detail - Fluency in Spanish and good working English - Comfort with unfinished processes and ability to help build them Nice-to-haves: - Exposure to Uruguayan compliance - Experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems - Inventory accounting experience in product or hardware businesses - Interest in automation, SQL, or AI tooling
