Salary: USD 95,000 - 120,000 / annual
Bobyard is a Series A construction-tech startup backed by 8VC, Primary, and Pear. The company uses AI to automate construction takeoffs and estimates, helping contractors complete bids 10x faster in a $10 trillion industry still dominated by manual work.
You will be the first Finance Operations hire, reporting directly to the Finance Lead. This is a ground-floor opportunity at a rapidly scaling startup where you'll own critical finance systems and processes that support company growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Process bills, manage approvals and spending limits, issue cards, track vendors, and code spend across the organization to ensure accurate reporting for decision-making.
- Accounts Receivable & Collections: Maintain invoicing hygiene, ensure timely billing, manage AR aging, navigate customer contract terms, and execute customer follow-ups.
- Transaction Review: Review transactions weekly to flag anomalies before month-end close.
- Month-End Close: Prepare close inputs and reconciliations for the outside accounting team.
- Billing & Quote-to-Cash Tools: Operate Stripe, HubSpot, and the company's billing platform; help improve system integrations.
- Finance Calendar Management: Maintain the finance calendar across payroll, AP, collections, tax, and reporting deadlines.
- Fundraising Support: Provide clean data, documentation, and analysis to support fundraising and diligence processes.
As the finance team grows, you'll take on larger projects in fundraising, billing systems, and scaling the finance function. The role demands attention to detail, clear communication, and routine process ownership in a dynamic startup environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–5 years in accounting, finance operations, or startup finance
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable experience (you've run it yourself, not just supported it)
- Admin experience with a spend management platform (Ramp/Brex preferred)
- Solid understanding of accounting basics: accruals, reconciliations, and revenue vs. cash
- Extensive experience building and managing spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets)
- Detail-oriented and fast; ability to catch errors without slowing processes
- Willingness to do hands-on work at a startup (chase receipts, fix broken processes, deliver bigger projects)
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with billing tools like Stripe, Tabs, or Chargebee
- Experience working through a fundraise, audit, or diligence process
- Background at an outsourced accounting firm or as an early finance hire at a startup
- Experience building cash forecasts, AR dashboards, or spend analyses that influenced decisions
