Salary: USD 95,000 - 118,000 / annual
Brex is seeking a Compliance Lead to join its Compliance team in Salt Lake City. This role reports directly to the Director of Compliance Governance and is central to ensuring Brex adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies across its global corporate card, banking, spend management, and travel software platform.
You will own core compliance program processes and frameworks, working across multiple compliance domains rather than a single narrow specialty. Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and enhance the organization's compliance program in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Manage compliance issue governance, remediation oversight, reporting, workflow automation, and process improvements
• Lead compliance reviews of new products and material changes, ensuring appropriate risk assessment and regulatory adherence
• Collaborate with Legal, People, and GRC teams on compliance initiatives, including third-party risk management
• Implement and manage workflow tools supporting risk assessments, issue management, and other core compliance functions
• Review, submit, and track external inquiries from auditors and bank partners
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure timely submission of monthly bank partner reports
• Represent Brex in external audits and bank partner reviews
• Manage relationships with external auditors and banking partners
The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), with up to four weeks per year of fully remote work available.
Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in compliance or risk within financial services
• Working knowledge of regulations governing card, lending, and deposit products (Regulation B, UDAP/UDAAP, FTC rules, Dodd-Frank)
• Familiarity with BSA/AML and KYC obligations
• Experience contributing to core compliance program work: risk assessments, issue management, policy and procedure maintenance, or regulatory change management
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with bank partners, external auditors, and internal teams
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities
• Hands-on approach with concise, straightforward communication style
Nice to have:
• Experience managing or implementing workflow tools
• Generalist mindset across multiple compliance program components
• Background at a fintech or bank sponsoring fintech programs
• Experience supporting change management or new product/material change reviews
• Comfort building recurring reporting and dashboards with basic data fluency (Looker, SQL, advanced spreadsheet work)
• Professional certifications (CRCM, CAMS, CRMA, CIA)
• Proficiency in compliance management and audit software
