RobCo is building autonomous industrial robotics solutions that combine hardware, software, and AI into an integrated stack. The company has raised $160M from top-tier investors (Lightspeed, Sequoia, Lingotto Innovation), operates 200+ people globally, and has deployed robots with 2.5M+ operating hours in factories across Europe and the United States. You will lead the "brain" of RobCo's autonomous robots—the physical AI harness that powers intelligent decision-making in real-world factory environments. Managing a full-stack team of Senior and Staff software and machine learning engineers, you will balance cutting-edge applied research with practical product delivery. Key Responsibilities: - Drive engineering excellence by setting rigorous standards for code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure 24/7 robot reliability. - Lead and mentor a team of Senior and Staff engineers, fostering a culture of high ownership and predictable delivery. - Bridge software and hardware domains, overseeing the full product lifecycle from ML training and AI inference to Linux-based industrial interfaces. - Establish an applied research culture where experimentation directly feeds into product outcomes. - Manage technical debt and architectural health to ensure long-term system stability as the company scales. - Partner with Product Management to translate customer needs into concrete technical requirements and actionable sprints. - Mentor junior engineering managers and help evolve company-wide engineering best practices. - Use real-time metrics to continuously improve team productivity, predictability, and quality. The role offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art physical AI, shape engineering culture at a fast-growing scale-up, and see direct impact from day one. RobCo operates with flat hierarchies, open communication, regular 360° feedback, flexible working hours, and a modern Munich office with work-from-home options. Requirements: - University degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, Data Science, or related field. - 3+ years of experience leading high-performing teams in complex technical environments (robotics, industrial IoT, or similar). - Deep experience with AI and machine learning, including dataset curation, model training, optimization techniques, and hands-on experience building agentic harnesses. - Proven track record driving an AI-first engineering culture and implementing agentic workflows that measurably accelerate team velocity and system efficiency. - Expert knowledge of modern SDLC practices with a track record of improving deployment frequency and system stability. - Hardware empathy, passion for software-defined hardware, and strong culture of high ownership. - Full-stack software development experience; robotics engineering is a plus. - Very good English skills with ability to navigate complex architectural discussions with Staff engineers and communicate risks to stakeholders.
