Zoox is building autonomous robotaxis from the ground up with bidirectional driving and four-wheel steering capabilities. The company is at a critical inflection point scaling robotaxi deployment and seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Robot Data Visualization team.
You will lead a team of software engineers specializing in frontend graphics (TypeScript, WebGL, Three.js) and high-performance backend systems (C++). Your responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and growing a high-performing software engineering team focused on visualization and data systems
- Owning the technical roadmap across two primary product lines: deep single-vehicle introspection tools and fleet-wide analytics platforms
- Architecting strategies to push browser performance boundaries, handling complex 3D rendering, time-series data, video streaming, and multi-layered map assets while maintaining client-side responsiveness
- Driving continuous improvements in system usability and expanding capability suites so internal engineering users can quickly diagnose edge cases and evaluate fleet performance
- Partnering closely with autonomy, safety, and infrastructure teams to convert complex debugging workflows into intuitive visualizations
- Fostering an inclusive, high-impact culture focused on technical excellence, quality, and continuous mentorship
You will work across all ML teams within Zoox—Perception, Prediction, Planner, Simulation, and Advanced Hardware Engineering—with significant opportunities to push the boundaries of ML scaling and acceleration as the company expands geofences across U.S. markets and ventures into new ML domains.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience managing, recruiting, and developing high-performing software engineering teams
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with a strong foundation in complex, data-intensive web applications or developer tooling
- Direct experience or leadership in pushing browser execution limits (client-side memory management, WebGL/Three.js execution, WebAssembly, or large data streaming)
- Strong dedication to technical user experience and intuitive UI design for developer workflows
