Scribe is seeking an Engineering Manager for QA to lead a distributed team of QA engineers and drive quality across the company's desktop apps and browser extensions (Mac, Windows, Chrome, Edge). As Scribe's customers deploy Workflow Mapping—the foundation for the next-generation product line—across larger and more complex enterprise environments, reliable capture and testing become critical to customer success.
In this role, you will manage an existing QA team, set the QA roadmap, and serve as a trusted voice on quality and release readiness across engineering and customer-facing teams. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and Customer Success to define release readiness criteria, surface risks early, and navigate deployment issues. Your responsibilities include coaching QA engineers, setting clear expectations, and supporting their performance and career growth. You'll prioritize testing and tooling around customer impact, balancing release speed with reliability.
Key responsibilities include leading quality through enterprise rollouts by working directly with customers and their IT teams when issues arise; building repeatable reproduction capabilities to help the team recreate customer environments, isolate failures, and validate fixes; improving testing approaches by combining exploratory testing, targeted automation, and engineering-owned coverage to address risks in performance, session persistence, authentication, and capture correctness; and communicating evidence, uncertainty, and next steps clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, including customers.
You'll develop the team's technical capabilities while staying close to the work and helping others solve problems independently. The role requires sound technical judgment, the ability to handle ambiguity calmly, and knowing when to investigate further, escalate a risk, or move a release forward.
Scribe's culture emphasizes ownership, rapid learning, and helping others do exceptional work. The company values clear communication, raising the bar, and making users heroes.
REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong track record of coaching people, managing performance, and building a team that takes ownership
- Experience recreating customer environments to reproduce difficult issues and verifying fixes before release
- Ability to turn product and customer risks into practical QA strategy with clear priorities and evidence of results
- Comfortable leading conversations outside engineering, aligning stakeholders, and explaining technical trade-offs to customers
- Sound technical judgment; ability to stay close to the work and help others solve problems independently
- Ability to handle ambiguity calmly and make decisions about investigation depth, risk escalation, and release readiness
- Preferred: Experience with desktop apps, browser extensions, enterprise device management, security software, or authentication
- Preferred: Experience leading a distributed team
- Location requirement: Permanently based in the United States; Eastern Time Zone preferred
