You will lead the platform engineering team responsible for the systems that enable building, deploying, observing, and operating Doctronic's production infrastructure. This is a hands-on management role where you set direction, develop engineers, guide architecture, and contribute directly to platform code and operations. You are accountable for engineering enablement, reliability, security, and infrastructure cost.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing a team of platform engineers through clear goals, feedback, coaching, and high standards
- Setting priorities with application, AI, data, security, and product teams based on engineering impact
- Improving reliability, scalability, and operation of production services; reducing time and effort to build, test, deploy, and operate software
- Guiding key technical decisions and contributing directly to platform code, infrastructure, and automation
- Building an AI-native engineering environment with agent-ready repositories, clear interfaces, automated validation, and reusable workflows
- Improving how agent work is scoped, supplied with context, verified, and turned into reusable automation
- Tracking delivery speed, CI performance, reliability, self-service adoption, and operational load
- Leading incident response and ensuring follow-up work produces durable improvements
- Hiring strong engineers and building a team that can take on broader scope as the company grows
The infrastructure stack includes AWS (ECS, ECR, Terraform, Terragrunt, GitHub Actions, CloudWatch, RDS, DocumentDB, Redis, S3, CloudFront, ALB, IAM, Secrets Manager), with most automation in Python or shell.
The engineering culture emphasizes a small, senior team with high autonomy, where application teams own their services and platform provides shared infrastructure, tools, and standards. High standards are maintained for patient safety, privacy, reliability, and code quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience managing and developing platform, infrastructure, or developer productivity engineers
- Strong technical background with current ability to contribute production code, infrastructure, and automation
- Judgment to evaluate architecture, reliability, security, cost, and delivery tradeoffs
- Record of turning ambiguous company needs into clear priorities and shipped improvements
- Experience improving developer environments, CI/CD, observability, service templates, or internal engineering tools
- Daily experience using coding agents with clear understanding of where they improve engineering work and where human judgment remains essential
- Evidence of improving engineering throughput without lowering quality
- Experience hiring, coaching, giving direct feedback, and helping engineers grow
- Clear communication across engineering and company leadership
- Typically eight or more years of engineering experience, including two or more years managing engineers (experience with teams and systems improved valued more than specific titles or exact tool matches)
- Experience with AI infrastructure, regulated systems, disaster recovery, or high-traffic applications is useful but not required
