Ro is building a vertically integrated healthcare platform that connects telehealth, diagnostics, pharmacy, and logistics into a seamless end-to-end experience. As Engineering Manager for Patient Experience, you will lead a full-stack engineering team responsible for bringing together capabilities and services from across Ro into a cohesive, intuitive patient-facing experience. You will set the technical and execution direction for your team while shaping the strategy and evolution of AI-enabled patient experiences. You'll partner closely with Product and Design to translate complex healthcare workflows into experiences that feel simple and useful to patients. A core part of your role is turning ambiguous patient and business problems into clear priorities and executable plans, defining paths forward even when requirements and success metrics are still evolving. You'll work across engineering teams to connect systems that power the patient experience, identify gaps and dependencies, and ensure coherence even when underlying capabilities have multiple owners. You'll stay close to execution—coaching and developing engineers while engaging in technical decisions, product tradeoffs, patient feedback, and data analysis to unblock the team and drive critical initiatives. Ro operates at scale with a performance-driven culture emphasizing ownership, urgency, and impact. The company has built a vertically integrated platform serving millions of patients and is recognized as a top workplace in healthcare, having earned over 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. REQUIREMENTS: - Experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams, with a track record of coaching engineers, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where teams do their best work - Demonstrated ownership of meaningful consumer-facing products or experiences, with the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes - Strong product and UX instincts and a desire to build experiences that make complex underlying systems feel simple and intuitive to users - Technical depth and judgment to engage meaningfully in architecture and implementation decisions, challenge assumptions, and effectively support senior engineers - Track record of operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and creating clarity and momentum without waiting for every dependency or decision to be resolved - Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, including experience aligning stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities - Experience driving work across teams and systems you don't directly control, using influence and sound judgment to move complex initiatives forward - Technical fluency with React and TypeScript, along with experience working with Python or similar backend technologies - Data-driven approach to product development, with experience defining success measures, using data to evaluate impact, and iterating based on learnings
