Omada Health is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead two squads building Omada's Platform and Engineering Systems. You will manage approximately 5 engineers, owning everything from squad prioritization and roadmap execution to hiring, mentoring, and operational health. This is a hands-on role: you will ship production code every sprint alongside your team, using the same AI-assisted workflows your engineers use. This keeps you credible and grounded in the day-to-day friction your team experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and mentoring a team of 5 engineers, with plans to expand
- Owning sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog refinement, and estimation
- Shipping production code off the critical path every sprint
- Managing millions in annual vendor budget (AWS, Datadog, GitLab, Anthropic)
- Driving cycle time improvements while maintaining quality
- Leading on-call rotations, MTTR, and post-incident analysis
- Building strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Design, IT, InfoSec, Legal, and Compliance
- Developing automation and evidence management processes for audit controls
- Hiring the next generation of AI-augmented engineers
You will be opinionated about infrastructure and systems, with hands-on experience directing AI agents through production changes. The role emphasizes accountability, clear written communication, and a security-first mindset. Omada's tech stack includes AWS (EKS, IAM, RDS, SQS), Docker, GitLab, Argo/Kargo, Vault, Datadog, PagerDuty, Ruby on Rails, Python, React, PostgreSQL, and Claude.
Omada Health is a publicly traded (Nasdaq: OMDA) healthcare company focused on chronic disease management, serving over 2 million members across employers, health plans, and health systems. The company combines human-led care teams, connected devices, and AI-enabled technology to deliver personalized care at scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years in software engineering, including at least 2 years managing engineers, or equivalent experience leading delivery for a team you were accountable for
- Track record shipping mission-critical software to production and owning mistakes as learning opportunities
- Ability to build roadmaps, plan for capacity, evaluate trade-offs, and negotiate with stakeholders
- Experience owning prioritization and estimation, including saying no and explaining why
- Experience giving direct developmental feedback and managing someone through underperformance with real support
- Currently or recently shipping production code in at least one layer of the stack: multi-account AWS, self-managed CI, Kubernetes, backend (Ruby, Python, etc.), GitOps release management, or internal tools/services
- Hands-on experience directing AI agents through real-world production changes, with a considered view on where they help vs. create rework
- Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and telemetry at a level where you can assess operational health
- Security-first mindset in design and build
- Excellent written communication skills
