Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms with over 10 million users, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Growth Foundations team. This team builds an AI-native Growth Engine that powers growth initiatives across the company, owning core infrastructure including the website, user communications, and marketing technology.
In this role, you will lead and develop a team of engineers delivering high-impact features and platforms that directly influence company growth and user engagement at scale. You'll stay hands-on, writing production-grade code daily while managing team execution. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and support a cross-functional engineering team focused on growth-critical systems
- Collaborate with Product and Design to define scope, set priorities, and ensure seamless execution
- Maintain clear expectations, realistic estimates, and transparent communication with stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance on architectural and implementation decisions
- Foster a culture of accountability, trust, and learning
- Improve team processes and cross-timezone collaboration
- Partner with other engineering leaders to ensure consistency across the Growth organization
- Leverage AI tooling daily to boost personal and team productivity
- Write production-grade code and set the bar for quality, reliability, and speed

REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience leading engineering teams and delivering high-quality results in collaborative environments
- Strong people leadership skills with focus on coaching, clarity, and empowerment
- Solid technical foundation, especially backend; ability to engage in design discussions and code reviews
- Strong individual contributor background with production-grade coding ability
- High proficiency in modern AI-driven development; daily use of AI for automation and productivity
- Familiarity with one or more modern programming languages (TypeScript, Rust, Go, Python, or similar)
- Product mindset focused on user impact and key metrics
- Clear communication and organizational skills to align engineering with business goals
- Experience working in distributed, remote-first teams
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience with analytics, performance/paid marketing, experimentation, or growth tooling
- Background in developer experience, SDKs, or internal platforms
- Exposure to scaling teams or processes during high-growth phases
