Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market, operating as a CFTC-regulated exchange (DCM) and clearinghouse (DCO) in the US. The company is building infrastructure to bring event contracts to a wider set of customers and partners.
You will lead the engineering teams responsible for moving, clearing, and protecting customer funds on Polymarket US. This is a hands-on management role where you'll own the clearing, payments, and risk systems, and lead engineering for the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) build—one of the company's most critical initiatives. The role requires a manager with direct experience building these systems and understanding the regulatory model behind them.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead the FCM program end-to-end: customer onboarding and account structure, customer fund segregation, margin and collateral management, and FCM-to-clearinghouse integration.
• Own the clearing engine and post-trade path: settlement, position and balance management, reconciliation, and the underlying ledger.
• Own payments infrastructure: deposits and withdrawals across bank, card, and wallet rails; fraud and risk checks at authorization; and processor and banking partner integrations.
• Build real-time risk controls: pre-trade and pre-funding checks, exposure limits, and monitoring systems that surface issues before customers or regulators discover them.
• Work daily with Clearing Operations, Treasury, Compliance, Legal, and business leads to translate regulatory and operational requirements into audit-ready systems.
• Hire, grow, and manage a team of senior engineers. Set technical standards, manage on-call rotations, and stay close enough to the code to make sound design decisions.
The engineering team is small, senior, and deeply integrated with the business. The systems you build move real money under real regulatory obligations.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 8+ years in software engineering and 2+ years managing engineers, with a proven track record of shipping financial systems in production.
• Direct subject-matter experience with at least two of: FCM operations, clearing and settlement, payments infrastructure. Ideally built these at an FCM, futures or crypto derivatives exchange, broker-dealer, or payments company.
• Working knowledge of the CFTC framework for customer funds: segregation, margining, daily reconciliation and reporting, and regulatory expectations for the systems that produce them.
• Strong instincts for money-movement correctness: double-entry ledgers, idempotency, reconciliation, and failure handling across external partners.
• Ability to lead a 0-to-1 build at startup speed while maintaining the controls required by a regulated business.
• Clear written communication with both engineers and non-technical partners in operations, finance, and compliance.
Plus factors (not required):
• Experience standing up a new FCM, DCO, or derivatives clearing member, or taking one through regulatory review.
• Background with margin methodologies (e.g., SPAN-style models) or collateral management.
• Experience with stablecoin or on-chain settlement rails alongside traditional banking rails.
• Hands-on experience in Go or another systems language used for high-throughput services.
