Numeric is a modern financial data platform for accounting and finance, built to solve the data problems facing accountants in an era of system fragmentation and complexity. The company combines data, workflows, and AI-first solutions to help accounting teams achieve verifiable financial data faster and make better business decisions. Numeric has strong product-market fit with customers including Anthropic, Notion, Brex, OpenAI, Cursor, Plaid, Wealthfront, Mercury, Figma, and Asana, and is backed by top-tier investors including Menlo Ventures, IVP, Founders Fund, and 8VC. You will be Numeric's first dedicated Engineering Manager, leading and growing engineering teams in San Francisco. The role requires someone who stays close to the code and system design to earn the trust of their team—not a distant manager, but someone who has done the work, still engages with technical details when it matters, and is energized by making other engineers better. Key areas you may lead include: • Data Platform: Lead the team building ingestion, transformation, and lineage infrastructure that gives accountants traceable, source-connected access to financial data at any level of detail. • Reporting Engine: Own delivery of the experience for flexibly defining, composing, and drilling into structured financial reports, from high-level projections to individual transactions. • Accounting Automation: Guide the team developing the core engine that brings structure to messy financial data, automating manual work and turning accountants into engineers. • Workflow, AI, and User Experience: Lead a team building complex, cyclical accounting workflows with dependency management, automation, and AI-native experiences wrapped in a delightful product. The company is building a culture centered on five core principles: Own the Outcome (responsibility for team results and solving end-user problems), Brick by Brick (consistent execution in each domain), Love the Game (focus on craft and genuine engagement), Earn the Right (building trust through quality and impact), and SALY (refusing to accept "Same As Last Year" and bringing fresh eyes to a stagnated domain). REQUIREMENTS: • 6+ years of experience building software, including meaningful time as a hands-on engineer • 2+ years directly managing engineers, with real ownership of hiring, performance, and team output • High motivation and agency BONUS: • Experience managing teams in complex, technical domains • Fintech or accounting-adjacent/fintech experience • Experience founding a business, building products from scratch, or being an early engineering hire who grew into management • Track record in hiring
