Alluxio is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality engineering work aligned with the company's vision of Cloud Data Orchestration. You will oversee a team of engineers, working closely with product management, customer success, and field teams to ensure on-time delivery of engineering initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building scalable distributed systems that support Alluxio's cloud data orchestration platform
- Hands-on design and coding (minimum 25% of your time)
- Leading, guiding, and evaluating the work of direct reports
- Developing and mentoring talent through effective technical assignments and career guidance
- Establishing and refining best practices and processes to guide teams, leading by example
- Contributing to the Engineering leadership team's efforts to define culture and processes aligned with rapid growth
You will be a key member of the Engineering leadership team, helping to shape processes, culture, and best practices as Alluxio scales.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience as a strong hands-on engineer
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing a team of engineers
- Experience with at least two of the following: distributed and parallel systems, distributed storage systems, architecting large-scale software systems, or security software development
- Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Java, C/C++, Go, or similar)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative programming environment
- Strong technical and conversational English language skills to work with global teams and customers
