Salary: USD 272,000 - 355,000 / annual

As Engineering Manager for AI Platform, you will lead and grow a team of engineers building the foundational systems that power AI across Harvey's products. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and scaling an engineering team focused on core AI platform infrastructure
- Defining the roadmap for shared AI infrastructure, including model gateways and routing, agent orchestration, tool calling, prompt and context management, and long-running job execution
- Partnering with Product, Research, and product engineering teams to translate their needs into reusable, well-documented platform primitives
- Building and scaling evaluation, testing, and monitoring systems to measure quality, catch regressions, and enable confident shipping of AI features
- Driving reliability, latency, cost efficiency, and security across LLM-powered systems, including collaboration with model providers on capacity and new capabilities
- Evaluating and rapidly adopting new models, frameworks, and techniques; making build-vs-buy-vs-adopt decisions
- Contributing to code and architecture reviews, unblocking teams, and leading by example
- Hiring, growing, and retaining exceptional engineers in a high-trust, high-impact environment

REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience in a software engineering management role leading platform, infrastructure, or full stack product engineering teams, preferably in high-growth environments
- 5+ years of experience as a backend, infrastructure, or full stack engineer
- Track record of leading high-performing, engaged engineering teams
- Experience building and operating production systems powered by LLMs (agents, retrieval, tool use, evaluation pipelines)
- Experience building internal platforms or shared services that other engineering teams depend on, with cross-functional stakeholder partnership
- Strong backend engineering skills in modern languages and frameworks (Python, Go, Node) and familiarity with distributed systems concepts
- Sound judgment on tradeoffs among quality, latency, cost, and speed of delivery in AI systems
- Plus: Experience with durable job execution frameworks, MCP or other tool and context protocols, LLM observability and eval tooling, or direct work with model providers
