FSH Technologies builds modern software for the public sector—local governments, schools, libraries, and emergency services. The company is addressing a critical gap: legacy systems that waste budgets, break workflows, and deliver poor outcomes for citizens. FSH believes public institutions deserve products as good as anything in the private sector.
About the Role
FSH is seeking a Security Engineer to build and maintain software while establishing the company's security and compliance posture. The role sits at the intersection of engineering excellence and security rigor. You'll work on systems that handle sensitive citizen data, requiring deep attention to detail and customization for diverse clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining software for government and NGO customers
- Seeking and ingesting customer feedback to drive iteration
- Iterating quickly while maintaining security standards
- Helping define engineering culture around security and compliance
- Constructing and maintaining FSH's software and compliance posture with an eye for innovation
- Adapting traditional security techniques (pen testing, auditing) to FSH's unique architecture
- Working with auditors and security vendors to create fair validation frameworks
- Automating compliance validation across similar but unique software solutions
Tech Stack: Python, Postgres, Unix, TypeScript, React. FSH maintains internal tools for deterministic code generation and obsesses over building compounding advantages in tooling, software, and product.
The ideal candidate is an expert in their craft—someone who gains energy from understanding how tools work and has shipped software multiple times. You're obsessively curious, motivated by customer outcomes, and view programming as a creative pursuit. You're a perennial tinkerer who loves pattern-seeking and believes abstractions can simplify complexity. You gain energy from being close to customers and are focused on continuous learning.
Work Environment: Employees are expected to work out of the office in either Philadelphia or New York City.
Requirements:
- Experience as a security engineer (e.g., handled SOC II or similar compliance processes, managed bug bounty programs)
- [Optional] Experience working with internal compliance officers or external auditors
- [Optional] Experience shipping software to users
- Belief that programming is a creative pursuit
- Perennial tinkerer mentality
- Comfort being close to customers
- Obsession with focused learning
- Appreciation for abstractions and pattern-seeking
