AIM Intelligent Machines builds autonomous heavy equipment and robotics that replace manual earthmoving work on jobsites worldwide. The company fuses software, hardware, and mission-critical infrastructure into ruggedized, safety-critical autonomous systems.
You will own the design, implementation, and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing infrastructure that validates AIM's embedded software and hardware before deployment. This role sits at the intersection of verification engineering, test automation, and embedded systems troubleshooting.
Key responsibilities include:
**Develop Automated HIL Testing**: Design and implement automated tests for embedded software and hardware systems. Convert manual test procedures into repeatable, Python-based automated workflows. Expand test coverage across embedded controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.
**Build and Extend Verification Infrastructure**: Maintain and improve existing HIL test benches. Extend hardware and software configurations to support new machine platforms, including excavators and heavy equipment. Integrate new hardware components, interfaces, and simulated inputs. Troubleshoot test equipment, wiring, electrical interfaces, and software configuration issues.
**Improve Test Reliability and Debugging**: Investigate failures across embedded software, hardware, and test infrastructure. Distinguish product defects from test environment issues. Improve test repeatability, logging, and failure diagnostics. Reduce manual intervention required to maintain test systems.
**Support Continuous Verification**: Execute automated HIL tests during development and software releases. Collaborate with firmware, electrical, and systems engineering teams to define test requirements. Identify test coverage gaps and develop new validation scenarios. Document results and support issue resolution.
**Raise the Verification Bar**: Improve automation practices and test maintainability. Help establish scalable verification processes as AIM expands. Advocate for comprehensive testing and proactive defect detection.
You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys finding problems before production deployment. You take ownership of issues, investigate root causes independently, and turn manual procedures into automated workflows. You thrive in environments where test infrastructure is still evolving and you can build solutions rather than execute predefined plans.
