Fuse Energy is a well-funded energy startup ($200M+ raised from top-tier investors including Balderton, Accel, Creandum, Lowercarbon, and others) building an integrated energy company that combines solar generation, battery storage, grid infrastructure, AI-driven optimization, and distributed energy solutions sold directly to consumers.
You will own end-to-end electrical development for the company's plug-and-play solar products, designing robust, scalable electrical systems for safe, efficient, and reliable renewable energy hardware. This is a hands-on role spanning the full product lifecycle: requirements definition, specification, design execution, simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM iteration, board bring-up, system integration, and validation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop electronics for renewable energy systems, including power conversion, sensing, control, and communications functions
- Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, controls, PCB layout, program management, validation, and manufacturing teams
- Debug hardware issues and system-level interactions in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment
- Produce clear technical documentation including design requirements, calculations, test plans, and validation results
- Support prototype builds, industrialization, supplier engagement, and production ramp activities
- Rapidly iterate designs as requirements evolve
This role is ideal for an experienced electronics engineer who thrives in a startup environment and wants to directly impact the energy transition through hardware innovation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong understanding of power electronics and circuit design: dc/dc converters, inverters, battery-powered systems, power switching devices, gate drivers, magnetics, loss modeling/calculation
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design: microcontrollers, signal conditioning, communications interfaces, component selection, thermal/power dissipation
- Experience with PCB design and layout for mixed power and signal systems, including parasitics minimization and EMI/EMC performance
- Proficiency with circuit board design tools, ideally Altium Designer
- Proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, LCR meters, power analyzers
- Experience with hardware bring-up, validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as LTspice, PLECS, or similar
- Basic scripting or programming ability, ideally Python or MATLAB
- Basic knowledge of embedded systems, PWM, and control concepts for power conversion
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience supporting products through manufacturing and high-volume production is a plus
