Blissway is a lean startup (under 30 people) that has built a technological lead in toll collection and highway safety systems. The company operates across deep tech, AI/ML, hardware, SaaS, and IoT, serving toll authorities and state DOTs across the US Interstate Highway System. You will own hardware systems end-to-end, from roadside cameras to billing integration. In this role, you will take immediate ownership of the hardware keeping the Interstate Highway System running. Your responsibilities include: - Optimizing edge devices: Improve reliability of cameras, detectors, and night-time illuminators that operate 24/7 in harsh outdoor conditions. - Prototyping and R&D: Design circuit schematics and PCBs for new hardware integrations to push device performance. - Full-stack hardware development: Write on-device code (Python/C++) to integrate new sensors and ensure server-side data handling. - Manufacturing optimization: Iterate on CAD models to accelerate assembly and improve robustness at scale. The team expects 55 hours/week on average, with occasional 70+ hour bursts for major releases. You will work in-office five days a week in Denver with occasional remote flexibility. The culture emphasizes extreme ownership, detail obsession, adaptability across domains, and comfort with both hardware and code. You will have direct access to technical leadership and see your work deployed to roads within weeks. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field (2027 graduates considered in separate cohort). - Demonstrated track record of building physical hardware: internships, senior design projects, or hobbyist electronics (Raspberry Pi, ESP32, custom PCBs). - Foundational understanding of circuit design and CAD; comfortable writing code in Python or C++. - Extreme ownership mindset: self-directed problem-solving, professional collaboration, openness to feedback in a small-team environment. - Technical skills that transfer well: Python, TypeScript, C/C++; Altium, Onshape, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers; Linux, IoT edge devices, AWS; edge computer vision, weatherproofing, outdoor deployment.
