Salary: USD 196,000 - 235,000 / annual
Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the future of energy-efficient AI compute. They own and operate the full stack from power generation to cloud services, solving the critical bottleneck of power availability for large-scale AI workloads.
You will serve as the primary technical bridge between Crusoe's design teams and on-site construction partners during the construction and commissioning phases of data center campus projects. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on ensuring large-scale power distribution systems are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently to support AI infrastructure at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support installation, quality assurance, functional checkout, testing, and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure (medium/low voltage switchgear, power transformers, switchboards, protection and control systems, UPS systems)
- Monitor deployment of advanced power backup and conditioning systems, including medium voltage UPS, backup generators, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Manage substation protection system oversight and involvement
- Provide technical support for RFI (Request for Information) processes and field engineering directives
- Support temporary power and electrical switching operations
- Track construction progress against project milestones and ensure adherence to design specifications and basis of design
- Drive rapid resolution of RFIs and Field Engineering Directives between contractors and internal design teams
- Capture and own critical lessons learned and field service bulletins with design implications for incorporation into future specs
- Support all commissioning levels (1-5) in partnership with Crusoe's commissioning team, reviewing documents for technical accuracy
- Champion electrical safety in partnership with construction partners
The role is remote by design but requires a minimum of 50% travel to assigned construction sites, with potential for higher travel during critical construction phases. You will also provide 24/7 on-call emergency support for your assigned campus. Preferred remote locations include TX, AZ, CO, LA, MO, UT, and NV for proximity to job sites.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in mission-critical environments supporting construction and/or operations
- Deep practical understanding of electrical power distribution equipment assembly and installation
- Hands-on experience with on-site construction and partnering with third-party general contractors and electrical subcontractors
- Strong project management skills to monitor schedules, identify bottlenecks, and drive on-time completion
- Ability to troubleshoot complex field installation issues and implement practical, code-compliant solutions
- Flexibility to travel frequently or reside near assigned project site (minimum 50% on-site)
Bonus qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or EIT certification
- Direct experience overseeing installation of high-density racks and accompanying electrical infrastructure
- Mega project construction experience in mission-critical or heavy industry
- Certifications such as PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety credentials
