Farcast is building innovative satellite user terminal devices to expand global connectivity through satellite internet. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design high-density electronics for satellite user terminal applications. This is a deeply hands-on role spanning schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and production support. You will design mixed-signal, power, and digital circuitry in close coordination with RF, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. You will contribute to system-level architecture decisions including power distribution, thermal strategy, and component selection. The role requires balancing performance, manufacturability, compliance, and cost throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: - Design schematics and layouts for mixed-signal, RF, power, and digital circuitry - Contribute to system architecture decisions, including power networks, thermal management, and component selection - Lead successful delivery of PCB/PCBA builds using HDI (high-density interconnect) technology - Develop and execute PCBA test plans with emphasis on IEC compliance and reliability across environmental conditions for outdoor products - Support manufacturing and production phases What We're Looking For: Successful candidates have delivered complex HDI PCBAs into production and are comfortable with the full design-to-manufacturing cycle. You should have strong expertise in high-density PCB design tools (Orcad or Allegro), signal integrity, power integrity, DFM/DFT/DFX methodologies, and IPC standards. Experience with RF design principles, transmission line theory, and practical PCB implementation is valued. Familiarity with testing complex digital, power, and RF systems—including active antenna modules or phased arrays—is a plus. Background in regulated industries (aviation, automotive) is advantageous. The role is in-person minimum two days per week in San Francisco. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status is required to comply with space technology export regulations. Requirements: - 5+ years of hands-on experience in board-level design, bring-up, manufacturing, and testing - Strong working knowledge of schematic capture and layout of high-density PCBs (Orcad or Allegro) - Working knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity - Experience with DFM/DFT/DFX - Experience with IPC standards for PCB manufacturing, assembly, and test - Established track record of designing and releasing electronics into production - BSEE required; MS preferred - U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status (export control requirement)
