Valinor is a defense and government technology company founded in 2024, backed by General Catalyst and Founders Fund, focused on solving unmet needs in national security and stability. The company operates with a unique model combining centralized go-to-market strategy with decentralized engineering to move efficiently and build right-sized solutions.
Valinor Dispatch builds modular charging infrastructure for autonomous unmanned systems including drones, ground robots, and surface vessels. This role is a hands-on, on-site position for an Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics and PCB design.
You will own the power flow for AC/DC systems and subsystems in low-voltage applications (under 240VAC, under 60VDC) across the charging infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- Design production-level PCBs for DC/DC converters, protection systems, and health monitoring engineered to survive austere field environments
- Take designs from prototype and proof-of-concept through to production-ready manufacturing
- Design to EMI/EMC requirements for high-current, high-power systems ranging from 1kW to 50kW
- Partner with mechanical, embedded, and systems engineers to integrate power electronics into complete autonomous charging platforms
- Build and validate prototypes, then drive the handoff to volume production
- Set the standard for power electronics quality as the team scales
This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with the engineering team to build rugged, high-reliability power systems for austere environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in power electronics or electrical engineering with hands-on, production-level PCB design
- Proven track record designing DC/DC converters, protection systems, and health monitoring from schematic through manufacturing
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC requirements for high-current, high-power designs (1kW to 50kW)
- Demonstrated ability to prototype, prove out a concept, and push it to production-ready manufacturing
- Experience with low-voltage AC/DC systems (under 240VAC, under 60VDC)
- Experience designing for austere or rugged environments (thermal, shock and vibration, ingress protection) strongly preferred
- Background in industrial, automotive, oil and gas, rail, or defense power systems preferred
- Proficiency with PCB design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer, LTSpice, or similar a plus
- Experience with wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN) and resonant topologies (LLC, dual active bridge) a plus
- Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; active clearance preferred but not required
