Saronic Technologies is developing autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer, Platforms to lead the design, specification, implementation, and validation of electrical power systems for autonomous maritime platforms operating in extreme environments.
In this hands-on, design-driven role, you will own power generation, distribution, and conversion system architectures from concept through field validation. You will develop system requirements and specifications, create engineering drawings (one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams), and conduct detailed analyses including electric power load analyses (EPLAs), short-circuit calculations, power systems studies, voltage drop calculations, and harmonic analyses.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading design and validation of power subsystems for ruggedized autonomous maritime platforms
- Evaluating and selecting or designing components for reliable operation in harsh marine environments
- Conducting trade studies and benchmarking systems from adjacent industries (automotive, defense, mining)
- Designing system architectures optimized for reliability, maintainability, and environmental protection
- Collaborating with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams on system integration
- Supporting prototype builds, troubleshooting, and commissioning through lab and field testing, including dockside and at-sea trials
- Authoring detailed design documentation (specifications, trade studies, test plans, test reports, system integration standards)
- Mentoring junior engineers in power system fundamentals and ruggedization techniques
You will work at the intersection of design innovation and field performance, ensuring electrical systems perform reliably under shock, vibration, thermal, and marine conditions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience designing or specifying electrical power systems for marine, defense, automotive, aerospace, or mining vehicles
- Strong background in system integration, environmental qualification, and manufacturability
- Familiarity with AC (120/240/480V) power distribution architectures
- Experience with power control methods (generator controls, electrical interlocks, remote monitoring)
- Knowledge of fieldbus protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS485, RS232)
- Experience with reliability analysis tools (FMEA, FTA, reliability block diagrams)
- Knowledge of electrical safety and certification standards (UL, CE, ABS)
- Exposure to autonomous or remote system architectures
- Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers
