Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Hardware Platform Organization, a central engineering group that builds shared technologies, tools, and infrastructure powering hardware development across all Anduril divisions. The Hardware Platform Organization sets engineering standards, runs development manufacturing and test sites, and develops core technology products that ship across multiple product lines.
You will support defense hardware development across propulsion and weapons systems programs. In the propulsion track, you will develop and test cutting-edge electronics for propulsion systems, including flight controllers, power electronics, high-efficiency motor controllers, and electromagnetic actuators. In the ESAD (Effectors and System Architecture Design) track, you will develop fuzing circuitry for missile systems, collaborate with vehicle development teams to design and produce tailored fuzing systems and effectors, and develop system interconnect diagrams and wire harnesses.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead full-cycle PCB design for high-reliability defense hardware from requirements capture through schematic design, component selection, layout (Altium preferred), bring-up, test, debug, and system integration
- Design and optimize circuits for safety-critical aerospace and defense applications including power electronics, motor/actuator drivers, digital control systems, fuzing circuitry, and vehicle interconnect
- Conduct rigorous design analysis including worst-case analysis, thermal analysis, DFMEA, component derating, and signal/power integrity analysis for extreme vibration and temperature environments
- Execute board bring-ups and lead Design Verification Testing, qualification testing, and functional testing through ground and flight test
- Develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses for vehicle integration
- Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, software, systems, quality, and manufacturing teams across the full development lifecycle
- Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews
- Perform root cause and failure analysis in support of ground test and field operations
- Support vendor surveys and component sourcing for performance, reliability, and supply chain viability
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex PCB designs
- Strong fundamentals in analog, digital, and power electronics
- Proficiency with electronic CAD tools (Altium Designer strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (LTSpice or equivalent)
- Competence with lab test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current probes, spectrum analyzers, and test automation
- Familiarity with standard interfaces including CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, USB, and PCIe, and common MCU/CPU/FPGA architectures
- Experience designing for signal integrity and power integrity
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance, or DOE L/Q
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, UAS, missile, or maritime hardware development
- Experience with propulsion electronics: motor controllers, power distribution/conversion, flight controller circuits, or electromagnetic actuators
- Experience with fuzing, ordnance, or other safety-critical weapon systems electronics
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-2105, or DoD Weapons Safety Board processes
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control loop modeling or system simulation
- Familiarity with avionics design standards: DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160
- Experience scaling electronics designs to production volume
