Havoc AI is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Hardware Engineering team. The company is a leader in all-domain collaborative autonomy, developing software-defined hardware for military and commercial-grade autonomous systems across sea, air, and land. Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Havoc enables unmanned assets to sense, decide, and act together in complex and contested environments. In this role, you will design, specify, integrate, and test electrical systems for uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and other unmanned platforms. You will own components and subsystems spanning power conversion, energy storage, RF and communications, signal distribution, and overall electrical architecture. Working closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers, you will take electrical hardware from concept through design, assembly, integration, and test. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and architecting electrical subsystems (power converters, radios, compute, harnesses, circuit protection, batteries, actuators, antennas) and developing system-level architectures for USVs, including power trees, grounding schemes, communications pathways, and redundancy - Producing wiring schematics, harness drawings, connector specifications, and interface definitions; overseeing harness fabrication and verifying assembly quality for marine environments - Leading subsystem bring-up, bench testing, environmental validation, and vehicle-level integration; verifying RF performance, signal integrity, and link reliability; diagnosing issues with power systems, EMI/EMC, communications, and embedded electronics; supporting field testing and sea trials - Collaborating with mechanical engineers on enclosure design, thermal considerations, EMC shielding, and component packaging; partnering with software and systems engineers on electrical interface robustness and documentation - Creating and maintaining electrical schematics, block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), test reports, and configuration records; supporting design reviews and engineering change processes - Partnering with technicians and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and suited to rugged marine environments; developing test procedures and QA processes Requirements: - 5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on system design, integration, and testing - Strong background in power electronics, power conversion, and electrical subsystem integration - Experience with RF and communications systems, including antennas, radios, GPS, and digital communication links - Ability to create, read, and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness documentation - Hands-on experience with prototype builds, electrical assembly, test equipment, and troubleshooting - Strong understanding of electrical components, grounding, EMI/EMC, and marine or ruggedized design - Experience integrating electrical subsystems into complex platforms such as unmanned vehicles - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field - U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance - Ability to work onsite at North Kingstown, RI office - Ability to travel 1 week per quarter Preferred skills include experience with uncrewed systems (especially maritime platforms like USVs, UUVs, UAVs, UGVs), familiarity with harness design and ECAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, Zuken, Arena), knowledge of embedded systems packaging and thermal/electrical tradeoffs, experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) for ruggedized environments, and strong analytical and root cause analysis skills.
