Salary: USD 115,000 - 140,000 / annual
Echodyne is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its radar technology team. The company develops compact solid-state beam-steering radar systems for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications, combining patented metamaterial technology with software to deliver high-performance radar sensors at commercial price points.
In this role, you will contribute to the design, verification, and manufacturing transition of analog and mixed-signal (AMS) subsystems for advanced radar platforms. You will participate in design-shaping discussions and technical reviews with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust radar architectures, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure alignment with program objectives and Design for Excellence (DFX) principles. You will provide technical expertise in AMS circuit design, simulation, and analysis to guide design execution and verification planning. Throughout the product lifecycle, you will contribute to root-cause investigations, trade studies, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance subsystem performance and support the long-term health of designs.
Key responsibilities include designing and simulating analog and mixed-signal circuits, performing board bring-up and design verification, troubleshooting circuits using lab equipment, and applying Design for Manufacturability principles to improve product quality and yield. You will work on core analog and digital building blocks including operational amplifiers, power management ICs, oscillators, voltage regulators, and low-speed signaling protocols.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS Degree in Engineering, Material Science, or Physics
- 2+ years of experience in design of printed circuit assemblies for mixed-signal applications
- Strong foundation in analog and mixed-signal circuit theory with hands-on experience developing high-reliability commercial or consumer products
- Understanding of core analog and digital building blocks (op-amps, logic gates, clock buffers, level shifters, power management ICs, current mirrors, charge pumps, oscillators, voltage regulators)
- Understanding of low-speed signaling protocols (SPI, I2C, etc.)
- Proficiency in circuit design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent, and SPICE-like tools
- Understanding of component selection, layout optimization, thermal performance, and signal integrity
- Practical experience applying Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Test principles
- Hands-on experience in board bring-up, acceptance testing, and design verification of PCBs
- Skilled in debugging and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters
- Eligibility to handle export-controlled information (ITAR/EAR); U.S. citizenship, green card holder status, or asylum/refugee status required
