Momentus is an early-stage aerospace company commercializing in-space transportation and infrastructure services. The company has developed cost-effective, energy-efficient in-space transport systems and is building a team of experienced aerospace, propulsion, and robotics engineers.
You will design, build, test, and fly avionics units supporting Momentus vehicles, including high-performance, low-cost, low-mass flight computers, cameras, and power systems. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment working on challenging aerospace problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop avionics units in one or more areas: flight computers and data handling systems, power converters and distribution systems, attitude determination sensors and cameras, radio communication systems, or high-power microwave amplifiers
- Perform PCB schematic capture and layout
- Conduct detailed technical reviews of electronics designs and PCB layouts
- Assist in developing test plans for flight qualification of avionics (TVAC, vibration, thermal, radiation, EMC/EMI, etc.)
Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline
- 5–8 years of relevant experience
- Preferred: experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Preferred: experience designing electronics for space environments (LEO, GEO, deep space) including radiation, thermal, and vibration considerations
- Preferred: experience defining spacecraft avionics architectures and developing associated budgets
- Preferred: experience performing radiation test campaigns
- Preferred: familiarity with embedded software development
- Preferred: deep technical expertise in at least one of the following: high-speed digital design (FPGAs, microprocessors, high-speed memory, communication buses), power electronics (converters, load switches), RF electronics (mixers, oscillators, amplifiers), or mixed-signal electronics (ADCs, DACs, image sensors, analog front-ends)
- Preferred: experience with circuit simulation software such as LTSpice
- Preferred: experience designing fault-tolerant systems
- Preferred: previous experience on DoD and USG development and deployment programs
- Preferred: ability to hold and maintain a USG Security Clearance
