Salary: USD 299,200 - 418,800 / annual

Reddit is seeking a Director of Privacy Legal to lead the legal team's privacy function, oversee the global privacy compliance program, and serve as the lead legal subject matter expert on privacy and data protection. This is a strategic role managing Reddit's compliance with US, EU, and other applicable legal frameworks worldwide. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the Legal team's support of Reddit's global privacy compliance program, ensuring compliance with applicable legal frameworks across jurisdictions. - Implement and maintain external and internal privacy- and legal-related policies and processes aligned with industry standard frameworks. - Partner with product and engineering teams to design and implement privacy controls as part of Reddit's privacy program. - Lead government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on privacy and data protection compliance. - Serve as the lead legal subject matter expert for privacy and data protection, ensuring consistency in privacy counseling across the legal team. - Partner with technical teams to investigate potential privacy and security issues and ensure compliance with applicable law. - Act as a strategic, proactive, and pragmatic legal partner with high emotional intelligence. - Evangelize Reddit's privacy-focused approach internally and externally. Requirements: - Law degree (JD, LLB, LLM, or equivalent). Must be locally licensed in your jurisdiction; legal experience in multiple jurisdictions is ideal. - 12+ years of legal experience at a top law firm or in-house, with 5+ years of in-house privacy and/or product counseling experience. - Demonstrated experience implementing and managing a successful privacy compliance program in a fast-paced, product-forward environment. - Experience with global privacy laws and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for tech platforms like Reddit. - Strong legal drafting and writing skills with a penchant for concise, plain English writing. - Experience responding to and partnering with regulators, particularly in Europe. - Experience managing high-impact and strong-performing legal team members in a dynamic, inclusive environment. - Nimble, proactive, and excellent communicator. Ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and build strong relationships with engineers, product managers, legal colleagues, and other internal stakeholders at all levels. - Passion for Reddit as a platform.
