Tricentis seeks a Director of Privacy to lead its global privacy program and serve as the company's Data Protection Officer. This operational legal leadership role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and combines strategic privacy governance with hands-on compliance execution. You will design and implement enterprise privacy programs that translate complex regulatory requirements into practical governance frameworks, processes, and controls. Key responsibilities include: • Leading Tricentis' global privacy program with focus on operational execution: developing privacy governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls that ensure clear ownership, documented decisions, and measurable follow-through. • Serving as Data Protection Officer for Europe, managing GDPR compliance, regulatory engagement, privacy risk oversight, and cross-border data protection requirements. • Monitoring and operationalizing evolving global privacy laws (GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA, PDPA, Australian Privacy Act, EU AI Act, and emerging AI regulatory frameworks) across the business. • Advising senior leadership on privacy risks, mitigation strategies, and regulatory obligations; leading privacy participation in cross-functional risk governance forums. • Supporting ISO/IEC 27701 privacy management program, including audit and certification activities, remediation efforts, and continuous improvement. • Developing and maintaining data protection provisions, contract addendums, compliance documents, and training resources for global contracting consistency. • Advising commercial, sales, professional services, and go-to-market teams on privacy compliance in customer agreements, service delivery, and commercial activities. • Embedding privacy into product development through privacy-by-design partnerships with Product and Engineering teams. • Partnering with GRC on AI governance to operationalize AI regulatory requirements and advise on privacy implications of AI systems. • Managing incident response coordination and ensuring compliance with global breach notification requirements. • Establishing privacy training and awareness programs to build privacy culture across the organization. • Building and leading a high-performing global privacy team. Key challenges include keeping pace with evolving regulations while maintaining business agility, supporting responsible AI adoption with practical guidance, creating consistent privacy practices across regions and functions, and moving privacy from advisory to operational reality with clear accountability and measurable controls. In your first 90 days, you will build stakeholder relationships, assess the current privacy program and DPO obligations, and establish a governance roadmap. By six months, you will advance key privacy initiatives and strengthen cross-functional processes. By twelve months, you will demonstrate measurable progress in program maturity and establish a scalable privacy function supporting business growth and regulatory compliance. REQUIREMENTS: Required: • Qualified to practice law in an EU member state • IAPP certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM) • 10+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, and compliance • 5+ years in-house at a global software company • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve enterprise privacy programs with clear policies, controls, owners, workflows, and follow-through • Deep knowledge of global privacy frameworks (GDPR, e-Privacy, CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA, PDPA, Australian Privacy Act, UK GDPR, AI-related privacy obligations) • Experience supporting ISO/IEC 27701 or comparable privacy management frameworks, including audits, certification, and remediation • Experience serving as a DPO or performing equivalent responsibilities involving European privacy requirements and regulatory engagement • Ability to advise on DPAs, privacy provisions, and commercial agreements while balancing legal and business goals • Demonstrated success partnering with business, product, security, procurement, and go-to-market teams • Ability to advise on privacy implications of AI systems, data use, and technical controls • Experience with OneTrust or comparable privacy management platforms • Strong ability to explain complex privacy concepts to diverse audiences and influence senior stakeholders Preferred: • Experience supporting AI governance, AI agent governance, or responsible data use programs • Experience partnering with product organizations on privacy-by-design initiatives • Knowledge of cross-border data transfer requirements and European privacy expectations • Background as a privacy attorney or operational privacy leader with technical/engineering/security team experience • Experience supporting incident response and regulatory breach notification programs • Additional relevant privacy certifications
