As Director of Product Design at Xero, you will lead the design vision and strategic direction across key product initiatives within your portfolio. You will champion high standards of design practice, balancing user needs with business goals to deliver intuitive, high-value product experiences.
You will provide compassionate leadership to a team of product designers, coaching and mentoring design leads and practitioners to hone their skills, elevate their craft, and deliver exceptional value to customers. You will join a collaborative global design leadership network working hand-in-hand with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to solve complex customer problems and drive operational excellence across the design practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting design vision and strategy in partnership with product and engineering leads
- Leading and mentoring a multi-level team of product designers to support career development and daily craft
- Refining design standards, processes, and systems to ensure delivery across your portfolio
- Establishing collaborative partnerships across Product, Technology, Research, and Accessibility to create unified customer journeys

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience leading, mentoring, and growing multidisciplinary teams of product designers
- Strong track record of shaping design strategies for complex digital products or digital ecosystems
- Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with senior stakeholders across Product and Engineering
- Expertise navigating the end-to-end design lifecycle, from discovering user insights through to final interface execution
- Passion for championing accessibility, research, and design systems into everyday team practices
- Demonstrated success in cultivating inclusive team cultures where individuals are empowered to do their best work
