Fi is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the design vision and strategy across their suite of consumer products. In this role, you will set the quality standards for user experience, manage and mentor a world-class design team, and champion customer-centric thinking throughout the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and communicating the design vision and quality standards across all Fi products
- Managing, mentoring, and growing a design team while fostering a collaborative, creative culture
- Overseeing the creation and evolution of a comprehensive design system
- Aligning team priorities with overarching company strategy and goals
- Partnering with cross-functional leadership (product, engineering, business) to make fast, high-quality decisions
- Advocating for the user experience across teams and at the leadership level
- Working with research teams to stay close to customers and translate insights into design priorities
- Designing for global scale and consumer-facing mobile products
- Guiding the team in integrating AI into the design process and leveraging AI to enhance output
- Balancing strategic vision with meticulous attention to detail in execution
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in consumer product design, a proven track record of delivering well-executed products that drive business outcomes, and demonstrated success managing and leading design teams. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, thrive on both independent and collaborative work, and have the ability to give direction throughout the entire design process from research through prototyping and refinement. Strong proficiency in Figma and experience developing design systems is essential. You should be curious about emerging technologies and AI, with an active interest in using AI to supercharge design output. A portfolio demonstrating craftsmanship, innovation, team management, delegation, and measurable results is required.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of product design experience with a clear career arc that includes managing and leading teams
- Track record of delivering well-executed products and driving meaningful business outcomes
- Deep expertise in consumer product design, particularly consumer-facing mobile products
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, startup environments
- Proficiency in Figma as primary design tool
- Experience developing comprehensive design systems
- Ability to use both qualitative and quantitative insights to develop customer-centric strategy
- Balance of strategic vision and meticulous attention to detail
- Curiosity and excitement for experimenting with new technologies and AI
- Portfolio showcasing craftsmanship, innovation, team management, delegation, and results
- Nice to have: experience working on hardware products
