Salary: USD 193,800 - 318,750 / annual
Fanatics Betting and Gaming is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the iCasino Experiences engineering organization. You will oversee roughly 20 full-time engineers spanning the U.S. and U.K., responsible for building and operating the technology behind one of the fastest-growing online casinos in the U.S. The organization has built a product ranked among the best in the market for user experience and reliability, and your mandate is to continue raising that bar while closing the competitive gap to larger operators.
This role blends strategic and operational leadership. You will set delivery direction and quality standards for your engineering managers, shape the technical roadmap in partnership with Product, Design, and TPM, and represent iCasino in cross-company programs. You are expected to be customer-obsessed and translate that into an organization that ships fast and constantly evolves.
Key responsibilities include: leading a high-performing engineering organization across multiple geographies; owning delivery across the domain by setting operating rhythm, holding teams to commitments, and surfacing cross-team risks; establishing and maintaining engineering quality and reliability standards for all customer-facing casino applications, including production readiness, observability, test automation, and incident response; partnering with Product, Design, and TPM to shape roadmap and drive iterative delivery; hiring, developing, and coaching engineering managers and senior individual contributors; representing iCasino in cross-organization programs; championing improvements to engineering practices and operational maturity; stepping into ambiguous cross-team problems and leading them to resolution; and occasional travel to Fanatics offices for conferences, events, and team-building.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams through managers, ideally across multiple geographies and time zones
- Proven ownership of consumer-facing product experiences at scale, with leadership of organizations building mobile products where speed, polish, and reliability are differentiators
- Strong delivery leadership with track record of running predictable execution across multiple teams, managing risk proactively, and maintaining high quality bar without sacrificing velocity
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering organizations through hiring, developing teams, designing structures aligned to business needs, and making performance decisions with clarity and fairness
- Deep operational rigor with experience owning production reliability for customer-facing systems, including observability, on-call structures, incident management, and post-incident improvement
- Strong technical judgment across modern client and backend architectures; ability to guide architectural decisions, evaluate platform bets, and resolve cross-team technical risks
- Comfort leading distributed teams across time zones
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in online gaming or other highly regulated industries, including familiarity with certification and compliance processes
- Experience leading teams building high-end mobile applications and working with content management or personalization systems
- Track record of driving cross-organization initiatives such as planning process redesigns, platform migrations, or automation programs
- Background in startups or high-growth environments where products scaled from zero to market-leading
