Salary: USD 285,000 - 335,000 / annual

Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building cloud compute solutions powered by an energy-first approach. As Director of Engineering for Compute Cloud, you will lead the engineering team building foundational IaaS offerings and scaling Crusoe's carbon-reducing, AI-focused cloud platform. You will serve as team lead for cloud compute engineering, collaborating with leadership to define long-term roadmap and strategy. Key responsibilities include guiding the engineering team through architecture decisions, design reviews, code reviews, and implementation; scaling the team through hiring, onboarding, and developing managers; staying current with cloud software trends; and driving hiring and retention strategies for top talent. Crusoe's customers include rapidly growing AI companies and enterprise AI teams using high-performance GPU compute products with VPC and cluster networking technology. The company is now expanding compute and virtualization capabilities to meet growing customer needs. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of engineering management experience - 10+ years of software engineering experience - In-depth understanding of compute products (CPU, GPU, ASIC accelerators) and customer consumption patterns - Understanding of key hypervisors and virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V) - Familiarity with AI/ML workloads and their compute requirements for cloud data centers - Proven experience building and maintaining scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems and application architectures - Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and full SDLC best practices (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations) - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication and collaboration skills BONUS: - Production infrastructure operations experience with strict SLOs/SLAs and fleet-wide observability - Deep Linux expertise, configuration management, and modern deployment automation - Leadership in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with cross-functional alignment - Active open-source contributions to cloud infrastructure, containerization, or virtualization (KVM, QEMU, containerd, Kubernetes)
