Salary: USD 225,000 - 275,000 / annual
Oklo is seeking a Director of Development Engineering to lead all civil, site, and nuclear engineering activities for Aurora advanced fission powerhouse sites through development and into construction readiness. This is a leadership role managing a team of engineers across civil, site, electrical, and nuclear disciplines.
You will oversee the production of critical technical deliverables including site layouts, basis-of-design packages, geotechnical and environmental assessments, and engineering inputs to NRC licensing and permitting. Your work directly supports state/local approvals, project financing, and construction handoff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead development engineering across all active sites: site layout, civil/grading design, geotechnical investigation, hydrology, and infrastructure planning
- Manage third-party engineering consultants and coordinate with Oklo's internal nuclear design team
- Produce basis-of-design documentation for project finance due diligence and EPC handoff
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, templates, and quality protocols
- Partner with the New Product Integration team to align reactor design requirements with site-specific technical constraints
- Develop and own site constraints packages synthesizing geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, grid, and regulatory inputs
- Own the development engineering schedule and provide cross-functional technical leadership to identify and mitigate technical risks
- Lead structured technical risk reviews at stage gates, evaluating against go/no-go criteria
- Build and manage an engineering team across multiple disciplines
- Support Isotope production facilities and Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses (NLICs)
- Solutions engineering for co-located buildings such as advanced manufacturing and data centers
Oklo is developing fast fission power plants for clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale. The company was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the NRC.

Travel: Remote employees must travel to Santa Clara headquarters twice quarterly for team meetings, off-sites, and company events. First two weeks of onboarding are in-person at headquarters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 12+ years in energy, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, or data center project development engineering
- At least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong civil/site engineering background; nuclear project experience highly valued
- Experience producing engineering deliverables for project financing and EPC handoff
- PE license strongly preferred
- Experience with DOE or NRC-regulated facilities is a significant advantage
