Doctolib, Europe's leading AI and digital health company serving 520,000 health professionals and 90 million people, is seeking a Director of Developer Experience to lead a new AI Developer Experience team within Platform Engineering.
Your Mission:
Build tooling and workflows that enable AI agents and engineers to test, review, ship, and monitor code reliably, multiplying Doctolib's engineering output while maintaining quality and control.
The Role:
Reporting to the VP Platform Engineering, you will lead the new AI Developer Experience team and own the existing CI and Developer Experience scope. Doctolib is transitioning AI adoption from a temporary SWAT team to a permanent capability. The current team includes two Product Managers and two engineers, with growth planned through internal transfers and hiring.
Your Team Will Own:
- Agent-native testing and feedback infrastructure enabling agents to validate their work within their workflow
- CI/CD and build systems for the monolith and satellite services, elevated from a CI-run team into an efficient agent-testing capability
- Developer productivity measurement in the AI era (DORA, autonomous change rate, complementary indicators)
- Inner-loop experience: local and remote environments, onboarding, editor integration, and sandboxing
Key Responsibilities:
- Build tools and workflows allowing agents to write, test, review, and merge code with evaluation, security checks, and controls
- Own testing and feedback for monolith and satellite services, transforming the current CI setup into an efficient agent-testing capability
- Own developer productivity measurement in the AI context and make it visible and actionable to feature teams
- Lead the inner-loop experience including local/remote environments, onboarding, editor integration, and sandboxing
- Build and organize the team, developing agentic skills internally as AI adoption becomes permanent
- Partner with Product Engineering and Product Management to understand internal users and drive adoption
You'll join the Platform Engineering leadership team alongside directors and senior engineering managers for Application Platform, Data Services, and Platform Services. You'll partner closely with Product Engineering, Product Management, Release Engineering, Quality Engineering, Automation Platform, Infrastructure Platform, SRE, FinOps, Security, Privacy, Compliance, and engineering teams across France and Germany.
Tech Stack:
Doctolib's solutions are built on a fully cloud-native platform supporting web and mobile interfaces. The stack includes Rails, TypeScript, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, and React Native.
Requirements:
- Led Developer Experience, Developer Productivity, Developer Infrastructure, or Build/CI organizations serving 300+ engineers with demonstrated measurable change in how engineers work (adoption, productivity outcomes, organizational/operating-model change)
- Deep technical credibility across CI/CD, build and test infrastructure, monorepo build graphs, test selection, caching, merge queues, and flake management; able to guide architecture and trade-offs while remaining credible with Staff Engineers and strong engineering managers
- 5+ years of experience as a manager of managers: hiring, growing, and leveling engineering managers and staff-plus individual contributors
- Comfortable setting own success metrics and being held accountable; strong written communication and structured thinking
- Fluent in English
Bonus Qualifications:
- Recent exposure to AI-assisted or agentic engineering transformation, including evaluation, security, guardrails, adoption, and productivity measurement
- Experience with large legacy codebases, monoliths, or regulated/high-trust environments such as healthcare
- Experience leading multi-country, distributed engineering organizations
