The Director of Compliance will design, oversee, and monitor the effectiveness of Commure's corporate compliance program, serving as an independent and objective leader. This role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer with a dotted line to the Board of Directors, ensuring independence and authority. The Director will function as a key advisor to senior leadership and a resource for all employees on ethical values and compliant business operations.
Key responsibilities include: championing the company mission and values through leadership; chairing the Corporate Compliance Committee with cross-functional representation; developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies and controls focused on Health IT-specific risks; conducting comprehensive risk assessments covering HIPAA/HITECH, data security, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, information blocking, and FDA SaMD regulations; developing and tracking corrective action plans; establishing and executing an annual compliance work plan with targeted auditing; developing and reporting compliance metrics and analytics to senior leadership and the Audit Committee; directing compliance training and educational materials for employees, executives, board members, and vendors; managing the compliance hotline and reporting channels; monitoring program effectiveness and implementing continuous improvements; maintaining expert knowledge of the evolving healthcare regulatory landscape; and liaising with senior management to ensure strong tone at the top and integrate compliance into business operations.
The role operates in a fast-paced, innovative tech environment where the team works directly alongside clinicians, deploys daily, and takes full ownership from early thinking to production.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctorate (JD) or relevant Master's degree (MBA, MHA) strongly preferred
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar compliance certification highly desirable
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in healthcare regulatory and compliance roles, with leadership experience, preferably in Health IT, SaaS, or medical device companies
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective compliance policies, procedures, and training programs
- Expert knowledge of U.S. healthcare regulatory landscape, including deep expertise in HIPAA, HITECH, Anti-Kickback Statute, and state/federal data privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA)
- Demonstrated experience with FDA regulations for digital health tools or SaMD and ONC Cures Act Final Rule requirements (information blocking and interoperability) is a significant plus
