Aryaka is seeking a hands-on Director of Engineering, Security to build and lead the engineering organization responsible for next-generation network and AI security products. You will operate at both strategic and technical levels—defining architecture and engineering roadmap while remaining close to code and infrastructure to drive critical technical decisions. You will manage and mentor the engineering team while leading development of security products spanning DLP, IDPS/IPS, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware, Threat Detection, Traffic Inspection, Policy Enforcement, and AI security. Key responsibilities include owning product delivery through the complete lifecycle (requirements, architecture, development, testing, release, deployment, monitoring, customer adoption, and production support) for enterprise-grade network security solutions. You will build, lead, and scale a high-performing software and security engineering organization. You will drive development of security engines and capabilities including Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware, threat intelligence, behavioral and anomaly detection, and AI security. A major focus area is leading the engineering strategy for securing modern AI environments, including LLM and generative AI traffic inspection and security, security for AI APIs and applications, detection and prevention of sensitive data being sent to AI services, DLP policies for prompts and responses, detection of malicious prompts and AI-related attacks, and protection against prompt injection and unauthorized AI usage. You will work closely with product and field teams to understand customer pain points and translate them into product capabilities. You will own and continuously improve a modern, high-velocity software development process, integrate AI tools into the CI/CD pipeline, establish secure coding standards and security-focused code reviews, and partner with the security research team to translate emerging threats into engineering requirements. REQUIREMENTS: - 15+ years of software engineering and/or security engineering experience with significant technical leadership experience - Demonstrated experience leading and scaling software engineering teams - Strong hands-on software development background in C/C++/Golang/Rust - Experience building cybersecurity products or network security platforms and delivering complex enterprise software/security products in a SaaS model - Hands-on experience with multiple security technologies: DLP, IDPS/IPS, AV/Anti-Malware, traffic inspection, threat detection, and security gateways - Good understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, IPSEC, Web Proxies, Identity Management) - Experience with high-performance networking and low-level packet processing - Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems - Experience owning the complete SDLC with modern CI/CD pipeline, automated testing, DevSecOps, and production operations - Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent - Demonstrated experience taking products from architecture to production and ongoing customer support - Experience with AI/LLM security and/or securing enterprise AI traffic - Experience using AI coding assistants and AI development tools at scale - Experience with observability platforms and data analytics for threat detection - Startup experience, particularly in a company building a product from early architecture through scale
