Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the stack from electrons to tokens to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. The company operates with an energy-first approach to solve the compute-power bottleneck constraining AI adoption.
You will lead and scale the GPU and data center infrastructure powering Crusoe's neocloud platform. This hands-on leadership role bridges software and hardware, sitting at the intersection of fleet operations, hardware validation, and infrastructure engineering. You'll own multiple critical domains: day-to-day fleet operations and greenfield deployments across co-location and owned facilities; firmware lifecycle management across 10+ SKUs and multiple OEMs/ODMs; a consolidated validation framework and platform for bare-metal and multi-node testing; data center infrastructure engineering (power, cooling, networking, physical security); hardware security and attestation strategies (TPM-based identity, secure boot, remote attestation); and reliability/incident operations with defined KPIs and on-call models. You'll also own procurement, CapEx, and budget partnerships with Finance and Supply Chain, and build/develop a high-performing team of fleet engineers, DC infrastructure professionals, and platform/automation software engineers.
The fleet operates under a 99.5% monthly availability SLA and grows roughly 10x year-over-year. You'll set the technical charter for fleet reliability and operational excellence, define north-star availability metrics, and drive automation that replaces manual processes. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Product, Finance, and the executive team, translating engineering targets into clear business outcomes and defining SLOs across compute, storage, networking, and inference.
Key responsibilities include: leading infrastructure deployment and fleet management from rack landing to customer availability; building firmware qualification pipelines and eliminating qualification backlogs (e.g., NVIDIA firmware lag); consolidating hardware automation pipelines into a single validation platform with proper workflow engines; owning DCIE including power, cooling, networking fabrics, and physical security; designing and rolling out firmware and OS integrity attestation; defining operational KPIs (uptime, PUE, MTTR, MTTD, MTBF) and establishing runbooks and tiered on-call models; and partnering on GPU/hardware sourcing, pricing, supply commitments, and SLAs.
Requirements:
- 18+ years of experience in infrastructure, data center operations, or fleet management, including 6+ years in a senior leadership role
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Deep hands-on expertise with GPU infrastructure, including NVIDIA or AMD accelerator platforms
- Genuine blend of software and hardware leadership with equal credibility in platform/automation software (workflow engines, orchestration, validation pipelines) and physical-layer DC operations
- Experience operating or scaling data center infrastructure in a high-growth environment (neocloud, hyperscaler, or large enterprise)
- Strong command of DC fundamentals: power distribution, cooling systems, networking fabrics, and physical security
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate large-scale infrastructure contracts ($50M+) and own large CapEx budgets in partnership with Finance and Procurement
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex infrastructure topics for executive and non-technical audiences
Bonus experience: neocloud or AI infrastructure company background; GPU failure modes and auto-remediation; firmware qualification, BMC/OpenBMC development, or hardware attestation; InfiniBand, RoCE, or high-performance networking fabrics at scale; validation/burn-in platforms and multi-node performance benchmarking; DCIM, asset management/RFID, lifecycle automation tools (NetBox, Temporal), or renewable energy procurement background.
