Salary: USD 216,500 - 318,500 / annual
Life360 is seeking a Director of AI Platforms to lead the company's evolution from supporting internal AI adoption to powering AI-driven features for its 102.4 million monthly active users. The AI Platforms team builds the shared foundation enabling Life360 to use AI quickly and safely—currently focused on model access, agent tooling, and infrastructure that engineers rely on daily.
In this role, you will set strategic direction for the AI Platforms team and lead it to full capacity through hiring and development. You'll build and evolve the shared AI platform, including model access and routing, agent runtime, MCP integrations, evaluations, agent identity, and cost controls. You'll define end-user AI platforms that enable a multiplayer ecosystem working alongside agents, and partner with core teams to evolve Life360's agentic product development lifecycle (PDLC)—the tools, environments, review practices, and workflows through which AI agents help plan, write, test, review, and ship code.
You'll extend the platform from internal productivity to the product, defining how product teams access, run, and monitor AI inference and AI-powered features in production at member scale. A key focus is driving adoption by making the right way the easy way: paved paths, reusable skills and components, champions, and enablement that engineers choose to use. You'll partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal to build data handling, auditability, and safeguards into the platform from day one, reflecting the trust Life360's members expect from a family safety company.
You'll define and report outcomes that matter—adoption, quality, cost per outcome, and time to ship—rather than usage counts. You'll stay close to the work by reviewing designs, unblocking teams, and making build-versus-buy calls as the model and tooling landscape evolves. You will report to the Chief Information Security Officer with close partnership across the entire leadership team.
Life360 is a remote-first company with over 500 employees. The company is AI-native, integrating AI into how it builds and operates. You may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with AI tools or discuss how you leverage AI during the interview process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years leading engineering teams that build platforms or infrastructure used by other engineers
- Experience building and operating production AI systems, such as agentic workflows, large language model (LLM) integrations, retrieval, and evaluation
- Working knowledge of MCP and agent orchestration, including how agents connect to internal systems with appropriate controls
- Familiarity with AI inference in production, including serving, latency, reliability, provider management, and cost
- Experience driving adoption of new engineering practices across a large engineering organization through influence, without becoming the bottleneck
- Hands-on technical judgment: comfortable reviewing architecture, setting technical direction, and staying close to implementation
- Comfort working where the platform, operating model, and product use cases are all taking shape at once; clear communicator with both executives and engineers
- Nice to have: experience with consumer-scale mobile products or privacy-sensitive data
