Relay is a cross-chain payments protocol providing instant, low-cost bridging and transactions across 85+ chains, serving 5+ million users with 59+ million completed transactions and $6+ billion in volume. The company's mission is to abstract chains from end-user payments and enable the next billion users to experience blockchain benefits without UX friction.
In this DevOps Engineer role, you will own production infrastructure from day one in a 24/7 financial system. Every transaction passes through infrastructure that must be fast, reliable, and secure across a multi-chain environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing Kubernetes clusters and deployment pipelines across development, staging, production, and testnet environments
- Diagnosing infrastructure incidents, coordinating with engineering teams, and driving resolution
- Monitoring alerts and dashboards to detect and resolve issues before they impact customers
- Maintaining, extending, and optimizing RPC proxy infrastructure to reduce latency and cost
- Reviewing and merging infrastructure configuration changes from backend and data engineering teams
- Supporting engineering teams with service deployments and infrastructure onboarding
- Maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tooling
- Managing data infrastructure for analytics and indexing stacks
- Contributing to security and reliability improvements including secrets management, access controls, and deploy pipeline hardening
You will be on-call for 24/7 financial infrastructure and expected to operate in environments where issues cannot always be reproduced locally. You should have a get-it-done attitude, document your work thoroughly, and thrive in a small team where you own things end-to-end.
Requirements:
- 4+ years in infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- Production Kubernetes experience (EKS, GKE, or equivalent) including cluster management, networking, and workload operations
- GitOps deployment workflows (ArgoCD, Flux, or similar)
- Cloud infrastructure ownership (AWS strongly preferred): VPCs, EKS, EC2, KMS, IAM, and related services
- CI/CD pipeline management (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
- PostgreSQL in production: schema migrations, query optimization, incident response
- Infrastructure-as-code and Terraform
Nice to have:
- Blockchain or crypto infrastructure experience: RPC node management, multi-chain environments, or chain indexing systems
- ClickHouse or other columnar/OLAP database experience
- Event streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Debezium, or equivalent)
- Security-focused infrastructure experience: secrets management, deploy pipeline security, access controls
