PhysicsX is a deep-tech company building an AI-driven simulation software stack for engineering and manufacturing across advanced industries including Aerospace & Defense, Materials, Energy, Semiconductors, and Automotive. The company enables high-fidelity, multi-physics simulation through AI inference, unlocking optimization and automation in design, manufacturing, and operations.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate core AWS infrastructure supporting a multi-tenant, cloud-based platform used by production customers daily. You'll build and improve CI/CD pipelines that enable application teams to ship safely and frequently with minimal platform team involvement. You'll lead architecture and code reviews for new infrastructure, pushing back constructively when designs won't scale. A key focus is reducing toil by automating recurring operational work and building self-service tooling for other engineers.
This is a scale-up environment with fewer guardrails and more judgment calls. You'll be expected to operate with ownership, driving projects from problem identification through resolution and documentation. The role emphasizes pragmatism—understanding the difference between "technically correct" and "right for where the company is today."

**Requirements:**
- 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles
- At least 3+ years deep in AWS in a production environment
- Solid networking fundamentals: VPC design, Transit Gateway/PrivateLink, multi-account architecture (AWS Organizations, SCPs)
- Experience with CI/CD stack (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD), including GitOps patterns and artifact registries
- Hands-on with observability tooling: CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana for metrics, logging, and alerting
- IAM policy design at scale: least-privilege roles, permission boundaries, cross-account access patterns
- Working knowledge of AWS data stores in production (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
- Strong, hands-on Terraform experience: module design, state management, workspace/environment strategy, and enterprise-scale deployment
- Demonstrated bias toward ownership and ability to operate in ambiguity
**Nice to have:**
- Kubernetes in production, including cluster upgrades and workload migrations
- Experience scaling infrastructure during company growth from ~100 to 500+ employees
- Policy-as-code and compliance tooling (OPA, Sentinel, AWS Config, SOC 2 environments)
- AWS GovCloud experience
- Relevant certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, CKA, or CKS
