Salary: USD 120,000 - 128,000 / annual
BigTime is an AI-powered Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform used by over 2,500 consulting, IT, engineering, and accounting firms to manage scoping, staffing, time tracking, billing, and margin analysis. You will join the Technology Team as a DevOps Engineer responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure, pipelines, and automation that enable reliable and frequent deployments. The platform runs on AWS in a mixed Windows and Linux environment. You'll work independently and collaboratively with engineering and QA teams, bringing a pragmatic, service-first mindset to internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt, with AWS CDK where appropriate
- Deploy and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS (including SQL Server on RDS), ElastiCache, and DocumentDB
- Run containerized workloads on Amazon EKS, ECS, and App Runner; maintain Helm charts and manage deployments with Helmfile
- Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes
- Write scripts and tooling to automate manual processes and reduce repetitive operational work
- Manage patching and maintenance across Windows and Linux environments
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing using CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus stack, and OpenTelemetry
- Work with external auditors on access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management for SOC 2 compliance
- Support serverless architectures in production
- Write and maintain infrastructure documentation, Disaster Recovery, and Incident Response playbooks
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and best practices
- Infrastructure as code experience, preferably Terraform
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm
- Proficiency with Git and GitLab CI/CD
- Experience deploying and monitoring .NET applications
- Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or C#
- Comfort working across Windows and Linux environments
- Working knowledge of SQL, ideally SQL Server
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Documentation habits
Nice to have:
- AWS, Terraform, or Kubernetes certifications
- Serverless computing experience (AWS Lambda)
- OpenTelemetry experience
- Configuration management tools (Ansible)
- Highly available, scalable cloud infrastructure experience
- Azure or GCP familiarity
- DevOps and Agile methodology knowledge
- Cloud security best practices knowledge
