Maxima is an agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting that automates accounting work—journal entries, transaction matching, reconciliations, and flux analysis—while keeping humans in the approval loop. As a Deployment Engineer, you will be the technical bridge between sales and customers, responsible for getting customers live on the Maxima platform. You'll work alongside Account Executives through complex enterprise deal cycles, running technical proofs of concept and delivering tailored demos. You'll lead technical discovery calls, write implementation scoping documents, and build the integrations and custom modules each customer needs to launch successfully.
Your day-to-day includes tuning prompts and models to achieve the right AI performance for each client's specific accounting workflows, building integrations to transaction systems (revenue, billing, accounts payable), troubleshooting and fixing production issues, and partnering with product and engineering to advocate for customer needs. This is engineering with a customer in the room—communication and relationship-building are as important as technical execution.
Maxima values in-person collaboration and expects this role to be in the San Mateo office four to five days per week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years in forward deployed engineering, sales engineering, implementation engineering, or solutions engineering
- Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline (computer science preferred but not required)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort working directly with customers
- Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or Python
- Experience working with Account Executives on technical sales processes for enterprise customers
- Proactive, highly motivated, able to handle startup intensity and pace
