AlphaSense is seeking an experienced Data Steward or Senior Data Steward – Quality Excellence to drive data quality, governance, and operational excellence across diverse content domains. The company provides AI-powered market intelligence to over 6,000 enterprise customers, including a majority of the S&P 500, with a universe of public and private content including equity research, company filings, event transcripts, expert calls, news, and trade journals.
In this highly cross-functional role, you will work horizontally across multiple content areas to establish consistent data quality standards, strengthen governance practices, identify systemic issues, and drive scalable improvements. You will partner closely with Content Operations, Product, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure datasets are accurate, complete, consistent, and fit for customer and AI use cases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining data quality standards, business rules, metadata definitions, and taxonomy frameworks across content domains
- Monitoring dataset health and quality metrics to identify improvement opportunities
- Investigating recurring data-quality issues and conducting root cause analysis to develop preventive solutions
- Partnering with operational teams to identify systemic issues and implement process improvements
- Developing and maintaining quality dashboards, data dictionaries, governance documentation, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborating with product managers to translate operational insights into product requirements
- Partnering with engineering teams to define data-quality requirements and support automation initiatives
- Supporting complex customer escalations and investigations requiring domain expertise
- Driving cross-functional initiatives focused on content quality, operational efficiency, and scalability
- Promoting standardization and best practices across content domains
- Identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve quality and reduce manual effort
- Serving as a subject matter expert for data quality and governance initiatives
Success in the first 12 months includes establishing a unified quality framework across content domains, implementing consistent metadata and taxonomy standards, building quality dashboards, driving recurring quality issues to root-cause resolution, identifying and piloting at least one AI or automation opportunity with measurable efficiency gains, and establishing scalable standards that improve both data quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, content operations, product operations, information management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and cross-functional process improvement
- Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets; experience in financial information services or related industries preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with experience working across Operations, Product, Engineering, and Quality teams
- Experience defining operational metrics, standards, processes, and documentation
- Preferred technical skills: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, familiarity with SQL, BI tools, AI workflows, or metadata management
