Curve Dental is a leading cloud-based dental practice management platform serving thousands of dental practices. We're seeking a Data Conversion Specialist to join our Data Services team, owning the migration of each new customer's data from their legacy system into Curve.
In this hands-on technical role, you will extract, map, clean, transform, and load real-world dental data while collaborating closely with Implementation and Customer Support teams. You'll work directly with practices from project kickoff through go-live, ensuring accurate and timely data migration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own each customer conversion end-to-end, scoping the project, building the plan, communicating timelines, and delivering accurate, complete results
- Extract data from customers' legacy practice management systems and profile/assess it to understand migration requirements
- Build field mappings and test plans, securing customer approval before conversion
- Clean and transform data using SQL, Excel, and conversion tools; load into Curve and verify against source systems
- Follow quality assurance processes before and after production release
- Diagnose and resolve data issues during and after conversion
- Document mapping decisions, exceptions, and approvals; maintain CRM records
- Update conversion documentation with new methods and edge cases; suggest tooling and automation improvements
- Support occasional go-live conversions outside normal business hours
- Communicate technical work clearly to customers and cross-functional teams

REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in computer science, information systems, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of experience working with data in a technical, analytical, or customer-facing role
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables (macros a plus)
- Experience working with relational databases
- Strong attention to detail and discipline to follow QA processes on every conversion
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple conversions simultaneously and deliver on scheduled go-live dates
- Thrives in fast-paced environment, embraces ownership, enjoys solving difficult data problems
Preferred:
- Experience with dental, medical, or healthcare data
- Familiarity with dental practice management systems (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental)
- ETL or data quality tools, or scripting in Python or similar language
- Experience with legacy or flat-file databases (Btrieve, c-tree)
- Data profiling, mapping, and quality analysis
- Knowledge of patient data privacy requirements (HIPAA, PIPEDA)
- Working SQL knowledge including queries, joins, and data transformations
- Customer onboarding or implementation experience in SaaS environment
