Nexla is the data connectivity layer for enterprise AI, processing over a trillion records monthly for customers including DoorDash, LiveRamp, LinkedIn, and J&J. The platform provides over 1,000 bidirectional connectors, agentic data integration for ETL/CDC/Document ETL, and Helix—a context engine that learns from metadata and schemas to keep pipelines reliable. As a Customer Engineer, you will be the technical bridge between customers and engineering teams. You own end-to-end technical resolution: when a customer's pipeline breaks or the Ops team surfaces an issue, you investigate, find root cause, and drive the fix through engineering conversations. This is not ticket triage—you take ownership of the entire resolution. Key responsibilities: - Investigate and resolve technical issues end-to-end, including cases raised by customers and issues surfaced by Ops and L1 teams - Dig through logs, connectors, and the Nexla environment; write Python or shell scripts as needed to understand what is actually happening - Document solutions in the knowledge base and create Global Alerts for visibility when issues affect multiple customers - Manage customer communication across email, tickets, Slack, and calls, providing clear updates and support through product releases The core challenge: most issues will not be bugs in Nexla's code. They will be third-party API changes, malformed files, expired auth tokens, or schema shifts across 1,000+ external systems. You must determine which side of the boundary the problem sits on, prove it, and communicate clearly while the customer waits. You will work on a shift rotation with weekend coverage shared across the team. No late-night shifts, but your week will not always be Monday to Friday. Requirements: - 3 to 6 years in data engineering, technical support, or closely related role - Strong Python: write scripts quickly to debug or set up alerts, comfortable discarding them afterward - Solid SQL and hands-on database experience (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server) - REST APIs and authentication (OAuth2, SSO, token-based); experience debugging undocumented auth failures - Comfortable on Linux and Windows; familiar with CSV, XML, JSON, and Parquet formats - Active use of AI tools in your work with specific understanding of where they help and mislead Bonus: - Apache Airflow experience - Prior support or on-call rotation experience - Data integration, ETL, or iPaaS background You will thrive here if you can write clear updates to frustrated customers and busy engineers (knowing they are different jobs), enjoy digging through logs and traces, refuse to handle problems half-understood, and work well with people under pressure without adding to it.
