OpenAI's creative team is seeking an experienced Creative Director, Art to lead visual direction and creative expression for the company's B2B brand. This role sits at the intersection of conceptual thinking, visual craft, and business storytelling, focused on translating OpenAI's AI capabilities into clear, compelling narratives for business leaders, technical decision-makers, developers, and organizations adopting AI. You will lead visual concepting and creative direction for integrated B2B campaigns, product launches, customer stories, and key industry initiatives. The work spans multiple formats—from campaigns and digital experiences to customer stories, films, events, and product storytelling. You'll develop compelling visual ideas that connect complex technology and technical capabilities to customer needs, organizational transformation, and business outcomes, creating work that resonates across diverse audiences without oversimplifying sophisticated products. Key responsibilities include: leading visual concepting from early strategy through final execution; partnering closely with Creative Directors, writers, designers, motion artists, producers, and product marketers; providing creative leadership across multiple channels and formats; guiding visual direction of campaign photography, illustration, motion, film, and digital experiences—sometimes hands-on, often through external collaborators; collaborating with Product Marketing, Product, Sales, Customer Success, Communications, and Research teams; building visual systems that extend across the B2B customer journey; and maintaining a high bar for visual craft, conceptual thinking, and creative ambition while managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. OpenAI values curiosity over certainty, kindness over ego, and the ability to balance creative ambition with clarity and decisiveness. The team operates at the frontier of AI, working to help shape how this story gets told in a way that feels grounded and human. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of experience as an Art Director or Creative Director at a top-tier creative agency and/or in-house at a modern technology company (experience in both strongly preferred) - Strong background in visual design and art direction across channels: integrated campaigns, digital, social, film, product storytelling, events, and customer marketing - Experience creating work for B2B, enterprise, developer, or other technically sophisticated audiences - Proven ability as a conceptual thinker who can develop big creative ideas and guide them from early strategy through execution - Demonstrated skill turning complex products, technical capabilities, and business challenges into visual stories that are clear, human, and memorable - Experience leading integrated campaigns and large-scale brand initiatives across different stages of the customer journey - Ability to balance enterprise credibility with distinctive, culturally relevant work - Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities, multiple stakeholders, and complex creative challenges - Exceptional design taste and deep commitment to visual craft and storytelling - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with creative, product marketing, product, sales, communications, and production partners - Experience guiding work through internal teams, agencies, and external creative vendors - Ability to balance creative ambition with clarity, precision, and strategic thinking NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with enterprise technology, developer platforms, AI, or emerging products - Experience creating campaigns for audiences spanning executive buyers, technical decision-makers, developers, and end users - Motion design or film art direction experience - Experience leading visual storytelling for technical product launches, customer stories, or industry events - Experience developing modular creative systems that scale across regions, industries, channels, and customer segments - Comfort giving creative direction in Figma, Google Slides, and production environments including shoots and post-production - Curiosity about AI, the future of work, and how organizations adopt transformative technologies
