Fuse Energy is a venture-backed energy startup ($200M+ raised from Balderton, Accel, Lakestar, Creandum, and others) building an integrated energy company: solar, batteries, grid infrastructure, hardware, real-time power trading, AI applications, and distributed home energy. The company sells directly to consumers to cut costs and pass savings on.
As a Cost Management Analyst, you will own cost lines with direct P&L visibility across the business. This is a high-impact role where every pound caught, questioned, or renegotiated flows to the bottom line. You will sit inside the cost control team and drive real savings through analysis, reconciliation, and process improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Own cost lines with visible P&L impact; discrepancies show up in reported margins
- Reconcile invoices against contracts and purchase terms across suppliers, catching errors before they become write-offs
- Build and maintain real-time cost-driver trackers so issues surface in days, not at quarter close
- Validate settlement and regulatory charges (energy market invoices, third-party fees) against internal accruals and flag variances
- Investigate specific cost lines, contracts, or vendor relationships to identify savings opportunities, then build analysis to support the business case
- Support supplier and partner negotiations by preparing cost and usage data
- Automate manual, repetitive cost tracking and reconciliation tasks to free the team for higher-judgment work
This is not a back-office role; you will find real savings and change how the business spends money.
Requirements:
- Very strong first-principles thinking: understand why a cost exists before reducing it
- Comfortable in a fast, ambiguous, high-intensity environment
- Analytical, structured, and proactive: chase down discrepancies rather than wait for explanations
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Genuine interest in cost control, procurement, or operational finance
- Bonus: Prior experience in banking, consulting, accounting, procurement, or startup finance; exposure to contract or invoice reconciliation, vendor management, or process automation; coding skills (Python, SQL, or similar) for building cost-tracking tools
