Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving using end-to-end learning. The company is seeking a Control Engineer to join the Germany-based Application Engineering team, focused on localizing and advancing Wayve's autonomous driving technology for the German market. In this role, you will integrate and validate Wayve's AI software stack and MPC-based trajectory controller on customer hardware and vehicle platforms. You'll maintain and enhance the controller—coupled with ML-driven trajectory generation—to improve performance, stability, and reliability across different vehicles and environments. Key responsibilities include establishing control and integration methods for ML-coupled systems, testing and optimizing system behavior in challenging driving scenarios (highways, urban settings, adverse weather), developing simulation and evaluation pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Verification, Release, OEM partners) to diagnose and resolve integration issues. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of controls, systems integration, and applied machine learning. You'll work closely with robotics, ML, and vehicle engineering experts to expand Wayve's autonomous vehicle capabilities across new operational domains. Wayve operates a hybrid working model with main hubs in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver, and Leonberg. The company offers relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable, learning and development budgets, comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced parental leave, and retirement/pension plans. REQUIREMENTS: Essential: - Strong theoretical knowledge of control theory, optimization, model-predictive control, state estimation, and numerical methods - Practical experience developing and tuning control systems for physical systems in both simulation and real-world environments - Experience productionizing and scaling systems, including real-time controllers and monitoring performance at scale - Strong C++ and Python programming skills Desirable: - Experience with control, dynamics, and modeling of road vehicles Note: The posting encourages applications even if you don't meet every requirement, particularly if you're passionate about autonomy and keen to learn.
