Glean is seeking a Content Systems Engineer to own the documentation experience for connectors—integrations that enable Glean to securely access knowledge across customer systems. This is an AI-first documentation role combining technical writing, programming, information architecture, and advanced AI practices.
You will build deterministic automation and agentic workflows that improve documentation freshness and accuracy while reducing manual work. You'll use AI to analyze complex inputs, generate and transform content, identify gaps, and support maintenance at scale. You remain accountable for the quality of the resulting customer experience, not merely content production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end quality, organization, and maintenance of Glean's connector documentation
- Develop deep understanding of connector configuration, authentication, permissions, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Build and maintain scripts, agents, and content pipelines automating documentation creation, transformation, validation, and maintenance
- Design reusable AI workflows combining appropriate models, tools, product context, instructions, and human review
- Create evaluations and guardrails for AI-generated documentation; investigate failures and improve systems
- Build deterministic checks detecting stale, inconsistent, incomplete, or inaccurate documentation
- Establish information architecture helping technical administrators navigate complex setup flows
- Partner with Engineering, Product, QA, Support, field teams, and customers to identify documentation risks
- Define and track documentation health measures including freshness, accuracy, automated-check coverage, and manual effort
- Apply successful tools and standards from connector domain to broader Glean documentation practice
The role requires combining technical-writing expertise with programming skills and AI practices. You'll provide judgment, technical understanding, and guardrails ensuring AI systems produce accurate, useful, and trustworthy results.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8-10 years professional experience creating or maintaining technical documentation for complex software products
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, technical communication, engineering, or relevant field
- Demonstrated ability to independently build, debug, test, and maintain scripts, agents, automations, or content pipelines
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript)
- Experience with docs-as-code or software-development workflows (Git, GitHub, command-line tools, code review, CI/CD)
- Advanced practical experience using AI beyond one-off content generation
- Strong knowledge of technical-writing and content-design principles (audience analysis, information architecture, task-oriented documentation, progressive disclosure)
- Judgment to organize large amounts of ambiguous or conflicting information without producing unverified content
- Ability to learn technically complex products deeply and explain them with authority
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, QA, support, and subject-matter experts
- Customer-focused approach to evaluating documentation quality and prioritizing improvements
- Willingness and ability to work on-site full time in Bangalore office (hybrid, 3 days/week)
PREFERRED:
- Recent professional experience in software development, test automation, or quality assurance
- Experience building automated tests or content-quality checks (e.g., Playwright)
- Experience documenting enterprise software, APIs, authentication systems, permissions models, integrations, or administrative workflows
- Familiarity with API specifications and structured documentation sources (OpenAPI)
- Experience working directly with customers or conducting structured customer research
- Experience defining service-level objectives for documentation freshness and accuracy
