Spendesk is seeking a Compliance Business Officer to embed compliance into business decision-making, product development, and operations. Reporting to the Director of Risk & Compliance, you will be the bridge between regulatory requirements and business execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess regulatory implications of new products, services, and business initiatives, partnering with product and business teams to embed compliance requirements from discovery through development
- Identify potential compliance risks associated with existing or new offerings and recommend mitigation measures
- Review and validate commercial and communication materials for regulatory alignment
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance policies, procedures, and guidance in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
- Work directly with Product Development to draft compliance requirements for new features and ensure product compliance
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Legal, and other business teams to provide actionable guidance and support compliant process design
This is a highly cross-functional role requiring strong regulatory expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to balance compliance expectations with business needs in a pragmatic and collaborative manner. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization.

The role offers a flexible on-site policy with 4 days per month remote (non-accumulative) and 3 full weeks remote per year (non-consecutive).
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in a product compliance role within a financial institution, regulated fintech, payment institution, or e-money institution
- Expertise working with card transactions, regulations, and SEPA rules
- Experience advising business stakeholders on compliance matters
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, practical, business-oriented guidance
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills with ability to identify risks, exercise sound judgment, and formulate pragmatic recommendations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Rigorous, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach
- Fluency in English (applications and CV required in English)
